Week 8 Journal

This week has been a little crazy for me. We are getting ready for my husband's surgery and my time for homework has been lacking. I wanted to have researched the real possibility of starting a business to help people de-clutter and get organized. I haven't been able to get to that just yet.

I am currently taking an accounting class and it has become clear how important it is for one to understand financial statements and accounting principals. If left only to the accountant one could risk hard earned money being misappropriated or even stolen. Accountants have a lot of power within a company and without a basic understanding it might be difficult to find errors (accidental or other). Many companies have lost everything because of dishonest accountants. So even if you come up with a crazy successful idea, you better understand the books in order to keep your earnings where you want them.

I have been trying to decide what type of entrepreneur I want to interview. One that I would love to have as my mentor is Rachel Hollis. She is the most influential author/entrepreneur/self-help/motivational speaker right now. She does coach people but it costs a lot of money. I doubt I could get any kind of interview with her for my class paper. I have a few friends that are entrepreneurs but they are in industries that don't at all interest me. I will keep thinking.

This week was all about how to push forward even through the hard times. I loved the video of a family whose car kept breaking down in the exact same spot. The man had to walk several miles for help. The message was "keep walking". God is there for us. We need to keep going and know that the blessings will come. Maybe different than we hoped, it may take longer than we hope they may not come until the next life, but they will come.

Week 1 Journal

September 21, 2019 First Journal Post for Entrepreneur Class. It feels a little strange to create a journal that will be read by more than just myself. I am taking this class because I am curious about what it takes to start a business. I plan to get a master's degree in school counseling but I would like to create workshops for teens. I want to create a place where they would feel safe to open up to each other and teach each other.  Lessons I learned What I learned this week. It is important to find what I am good at doing.
