"Those at the A-level aren’t working for mankind, but living for mankind, trying to lift and help others. In addition to making a living, they are making a life. They have a different vision than those at lower levels. Because of their love for their fellowmen, they define their business in terms of customers’ needs, such as a builder of homes rather than merely a brick mason. At levels B through D, business is usually defined in terms of products and services rather than customers’ needs."
"Making a Living and a Life"
Elder Lynn G. Robbins
Ethics are the most important part of running a business. I have created a list of boundaries for myself.
I will never let money be my driving factor.
I created a list of my personal code of conduct
I will never sacrifice my integrity
I will never consume alcohol or drugs
I will never spend time alone with someone of the opposite sex
I will never take credit for someone else’s work
I will never take advantage of anyone
I will never cheat
I will never let my career become more important than my
family
I will never make a decision without educating myself first and confirming it with God
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will always remember that all I have comes from God
I will always be worthy of my temple recommend
I will always put God and my family first
I will always encourage others to succeed
I will remain humble
I have been thinking a lot about what gifts I might have. Sandefer says we should ask ourselves what things we do where we lose track of time. When I am organizing things and when I am gardening I lose track of time. These are two of my gifts. Maybe I should consider these gifts when I think about starting a business.
